| Built in 1989 as “Martela OF” for the Whitbread Round the World race by Baltic Yachts of Finland, she subsequently completed a second circumnavigation as “Uruguay Natural”. Having raced successfully during the late nineties as “Maxima”, she was bought by a Polish Vodka manufacturer and campaigned around the world, winning her class in the 2001 Sydney to Hobart Race. During this last ownership she was maintained regardless of cost and is currently in immaculate condition under new ownership, with a huge Kevlar sail wardrobe, much of which has only seen a few hours use. Her current configuration and handicap makes “Martela” a very competitive offshore racer and she is certainly one of the best-equipped and maintained offshore Maxis available anywhere. |
